Margaret Banks Oberender

After graduating from Baylor in 1964, I married in 1965 and spent the next 20 years as an Air Force wife. We lived in Utah, California, Texas, Alabama, Ohio, and New Jersey, plus 3 years at Ramstein AB Germany, before returning to Texas. I taught one year in Waco, one year in Utah, and 1 year at Marshall High School (that was a rather odd experience -- sitting in the teachers' lounge, having some of my former teachers come in and ask me what I was doing there!). After we returned to Texas in 1983, I taught 18 years at Westwood High School in the Round Rock ISD. We moved from Austin to Lampasas in 2002. We love the Hill Country, traveling in our RV, spending time with our children and grandchildren, playing bridge and other games, and relaxing!

One of my favorite memories is of Mrs. Hughes sitting in the bowl of pansies on her desk, then walking over to the windows and wringing out her skirt, never once losing track of whatever she was lecturing on that day. Judy Bearden and I nearly fell out of our desks laughing.

Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and other Caribbean Islands, Germany, France, England, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Luxemburg, Ireland.

I still hope to ride in a hot air balloon and on a jet ski. In 2017 I attended the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, NM. While there I had lunch with Judy Bearden Love and Cheryl Nored Dean. Next time maybe I'll go for a ride.

I see several classmates frequently -- Diane Vassar, Margaret Ross, Sarah Joe Duncan, and Paula Mauldin. We love getting together and talking about the "olden" days.
